What is the Vikas edit? The photo prompts, the classroom reel and how it’s made

Star in Vikas Editor with one photo
Make yoursOne name, two kinds of edit
Type “vikas edit” into a search box and you get a mix. Most results are prompts for a still picture: paste your photo into Gemini or ChatGPT and get yourself on a sports bike, at Ganpati, as a cartoon. Others are the video everyone is posting to Reels and Shorts, a square edit that looks like a scene from a Korean campus drama, with the creator dropped in as the lead.
Vikas is the name of an Indian editor; tutorial channels taught “the Vikas style”, and the name now covers anything made that way. Nobody owns it, and none of the pages using it, ours included, is that editor.
What happens in the classroom reel

- A crowd spills out of the classroom door and a classmate at the front turns to look.
- The lead walks in, glances back over the shoulder, startled.
- At the desk, a slow, cocky smile straight at the camera.
- On the drop the edit flips to black and white: fast flash cuts of the lead laughing, smirking into the lens, tipping the head back.
- Colour shots of a chat with a friend in the corridor, then more black-and-white cuts to the end.
It’s an “aura” edit: the whole room reacts to one person, and that person is you. That’s why people post it with a new profile picture, as a joke about their own college, or just for the attitude.
Three ways to make it
| Way | What it takes | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| AI clips plus an editing app | A clip at a time in Google Flow or another video tool, then cutting them to the song in CapCut or VN. The prompts | Your own edit, after an evening of retries |
| A CapCut or VN template | Your photos dropped into someone’s template. How templates compare | Your photos moving to the beat; the scenes don’t change |
| One selfie on our page | A selfie and a few minutes | The finished 28-second square edit with the song |
Want it done in one step? The Vikas Editor page shoots your scenes and cuts them on the beat. The others in it, the classmates and the friend, are made-up people.
One Standard video uses 45 credits. The smallest pack that makes one is $9.90 for 90 credits (2 videos), a one-time buy whose credits never expire, and plans start at $19.90 a month for 270 credits. If a video fails, its credits come back.
NowStarring is an independent video tool, not linked to any editor, channel, app or website called Vikas, to CapCut, VN or Google Flow, to any TV drama or its cast, or to the artists behind the song.
Questions
Who is Vikas in the Vikas edit?
Vikas is the name of an Indian editor whose style tutorial makers copy, and the name stuck to the edits themselves. Searching it now brings up photo prompts and video edits made by many different people.
Is the Vikas edit a photo or a video?
Both go by the name. Most “Vikas edit” prompts make a styled still: you on a bike, at a festival, in a game. The reel this guide is about is a video: a square campus drama edit with you as the lead.
How long is the Vikas edit video?
The versions going around run just under half a minute and are square. Ours is 28 seconds, with the song over the whole of it.
Can I make the Vikas edit video without CapCut?
Yes. On our page you add one selfie and get the finished edit, already cut to the song. The hand-made way uses an AI video tool for the clips and an editing app such as CapCut or VN to put them together.
