What is the Turn the Lights Off trend? Eyes closed, arms up in a packed club, explained

The moment

You’re in the middle of a packed club, eyes closed, smiling, lost in the song. Your hands rise slowly to your chest, then the drop hits and both arms go straight up. You sway under the disco balls while the camera pulls back into a crowd dancing with you.

Where it started

It began with a nightclub scene in the TV series Your Friends & Neighbors: a man dancing on his own, eyes closed, arms in the air, completely unbothered by everyone around him. TikTok set the moment to Turn the Lights Off by Kato, and people started posting their own, then their dogs and cats.

Why people post it

It’s pure, unbothered joy. People post it for the end of a long week, a small win or just getting through something, and a dog with both paws up and its eyes closed is the version everyone sends on.

What the AI version looks like

The AI version puts you or your pet in the middle of the club from one photo. You keep your face and the clothes from your photo; a pet rises onto its hind legs and puts both front paws up. The video is 10 seconds, vertical for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with the song and no watermark.
