The whole scene runs 27 seconds. These are the beats:
- 0:00, the close-up: you, up close in front of the crowd, staring into the lens.
- 0:05, the walk back: you turn away and walk back into the crowd in black suits.
- 0:16, the stare: the camera pulls back; nobody moves, and you stare down the lens from the middle.
- 0:21, eyes to the sky: the whole crowd throws its head back to the sky, but you don’t.
- 0:24, the bows: on the stone steps they bow and look up on every beat, around you, until the end.
Film it yourself
- Gather as many friends as you can, all in the same dark clothes, on some wide outdoor steps.
- Put the one who wears something different in the middle, with their back to the camera.
- Film from a tripod: the turn and the stare first, then a wide shot from further back.
- On the beat, everyone bows and then looks up at the sky together, while the one in the middle doesn’t move.
