A phone lies face-up on the ground. A group of friends leans in over it against the sky, grinning and throwing peace signs, until one of them gets close and slaps a palm over the lens. When the hand moves away, the friends are standing in a row on the empty top of a parking garage at dusk, dancing to Mi Chico in loose, bouncy sync. Near the end, everyone puts their hands behind their head. That’s the whole clip, about 15 to 17 seconds.

Where it started
The song came first: Mi Chico by the Romanian producer DJ Goja, which spread on TikTok before its official release with Jason Derulo and Melody in June 2026. In the autumn, a clip of five friends dancing to it on a rooftop parking deck, with the phone dropped on the ground for the opening, took off. Friend groups copied the setup shot for shot, then came cat and dog versions, then AI remakes.

Why people post it
- It makes any group look like the coolest crew around: the dusk sky, the empty deck, everyone moving together.
- The opening is easy and funny. Anyone can drop a phone and lean over it.
- The dance is loose. It’s a groove, not choreography, so a group that has never danced together can still pull it off.
- It doubles as a joke about the friends who always say they’ll come and never do.
The versions you’ll see
| Version | What changes |
|---|---|
| Friend groups | The original setup with three to six real friends, often on their own local rooftop |
| Solo | One person does the opening and the groove alone |
| Pets | Cats or dogs edited into the dance |
| AI | A photo turned into the whole clip, crew and rooftop included |

What is the Mi Chico trend?
A TikTok dance trend set to Mi Chico by DJ Goja. It opens on a phone lying on the ground with friends leaning over it, a hand covers the lens, and then the group dances in a row on the top of a parking garage at dusk.
What song is it?

What does Mi Chico AI mean?
Two things get searched under it: whether the song is AI-made, which no source says, and AI videos of the dance made from a photo. Ours is the second kind.
Why is it always on a parking garage roof?
That’s where the clip that started it was filmed: an empty, open deck at dusk, with lamps coming on. The empty concrete and big sky make a small crew look like a music video.
Can pets do the Mi Chico trend?
People post cat and dog versions. On NowStarring it’s people only for now: one selfie, you in the middle of a crew of three.
